Art365/238: A Saluki Hound

On international day for dogs, sharing this image, featuring a cute pooch. Known for their keen sense of smell, and a mind sharp as a tack, dogs were reared in royal households for their hunting parties. Shown with a nobleman, this is a beautiful Saluki hound is elegant, muscular, with fashionably tinted ears. The painting was made in the early decades of the 17th century, in the Deccan, perhaps by Muhammad Ali, a follower of Farrukh Beg.
